LENT DAY 37
What Do You Deserve? By Pastor Brock Adams
There is a scene in a movie where a thief steals from a religious leader in the community. The authorities catch the thief and bring him back to the house of the religious leader. Instead of giving that thief what he deserves the priest does not press charges and actually give him more stuff to take on his journey. The religious guy told the thief that with that choice he bought him a chance of being a new man. If that was me, I think I would have handled that situation differently.
Grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve. We celebrate Easter because of the salvation we receive with the sacrifice of Jesus. It is unearned and undeserved. It is a gift from God that He extends to those that want to receive it. We do not deserve the grace God gives us.
When I think of God’s grace in my life I often wonder how gracious I am with people in my life. Am I gracious like that religious guy in the movie? Am I gracious like God is with me?
Lent is a time to reflect of God’s grace that he gives to us. I can’t think of a better way to show God how thankful we are for His grace than by extending his grace to others. How can you extend grace to people during this Lent season?
“The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” (Rev 22:21)
