Ice Breaker: Who are some heroes in your life? If you had to pick one or two people you would like to “grow up to be like”, who would they be and why?

1. God turned a prisoner named Joseph into the prince of Egypt…..he turned a shepherd boy named David into a giant killing king, he turned a stutterer named Moses into a deliverer, He turned an orphan named Esther into a queen and a hero, He turned a bunch of blue collar fishermen and shady tax collectors into disciples and apostles who launched the most powerful movement in history…..if all that is true, why wouldn’t He have a great plan for you?

2. God created you in His image. Why is that significant? (See Psalm 139:14)

3. Because you are created by God, self-loathing is a sin. Why?

4. Because you were created in God’s image, you are:

     a. Creative. Discuss whether that means we all should be poets or painters or musicians.
     b. Powerful. Discuss, using the words we speak as an example.
     c. Effective. See Ephesians 2:10

5. Jesus purchased your adoption. What did He pay for you? Read Matthew 13:44-46.

6. How is Jesus your Big Brother, in light of Colossians 1:18?

     a. If His death saved you FROM your sin, what does His resurrection save you FOR?

7. The Holy Spirit prepares you for greatness, provides you with greatness and prompts you to greatness…discuss this in light of Colossians 1:27.

8. If you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit lives in you.  (See Ephesians 4:8).  Therefore, greatness is inside of you.  What is holding you back today?  Where is your thinking too small?

9. There is greatness all around you…not on TV, in front of stadiums, but men and women created in God’s image, purchased by Jesus and prompted by the Holy Spirit to simple greatness, day in and day out. Can you think of examples?
