Ice Breaker….tell of one memory you have from Elementary school.

1.       How does John 3:16 apply to you?

2.    Why do they teach Patch the Pony to 5-6 year olds and not 39 year olds?

3.    There are people who do more harm than good:
     a.    Evil people (your pain is their gain).  Have you met any?  Discuss.
          i.    Have you been this way?  Discuss.
     b.    Broken people (hurting people hurt people).  Met any?  Discuss.
          i.    Have you been this way?  Discuss.
     c.    Religious people See John 5:9-10 (they claim to represent God, but they forgot the mercy and the love
            and the promise of restoration).  Met any?  Discuss.
          i.    Have you been this way?  Discuss.
     d.    Ignorant people (Follow your heart, moderation in all things…etc).  Met any?  Discuss.
          i.    Have you been his way?  Discuss.

4.    In John 5:1-10, there were a lot of people around, but the man who had been crippled for 38 years really only needed to meet one….Jesus.  Do you find yourself distracted at times?  What helps you focus back on Jesus?  What does Hebrews 12:2 suggest?
     a.    Discuss Gal. 1:10 in light of this.

5.    Why are we still celebrating Jesus’ birth and death, some 2000 years later?  Discuss in light of 1 Cor. 15: 17-19.
     a.    What is Jesus the only person in history to speak from experience about?

6.    Jesus came for the poor, the crippled and the blind:
     a.    How are you poor?  See Romans 6:23
          i.    How can Jesus make you rich?
     b.    How are you crippled?  See 2 Cor. 12:10
          i.    How can God lift you up?  Is. 40:29-31
     c.    How are you blind?  Discuss in light of what happens when we die?
          i.    How can God give you sight?  Discuss in light of Psalm 23:4

7.    Why would Jesus ask this man at the pool that day, “Do you want to get well”?  How might He be asking you the same question?
