Ice Breaker:  Who is the most famous dad in the world, in your opinion?

1.    Why do you think there is such a difference in Mother’s Day sermons and Father’s Day sermons?

2.    Three things that are true about great dads:

    1.    Great dads are tough:
         a.    Being tough isn’t bench press and boxing…its doing the right thing, even when its not easy.
         b.    How can young men start being tough right now, even years before they become fathers?
         c.    Tough guys “take out the garbage”.  Discuss:
                         i.    Literally.
                         ii.    Figuratively.

d.    How is “til death do us part” a vow for tough guys?
e.    It doesn’t take a tough guy to conceive a child.  It take a tough guy to have the courage to raise one.
               i.    How do kids change your life?
ii.    Discuss being a dad in light of Gal. 6:7.

    2.    Great dads go first:
        a.    Spiritually.  Discuss.
        b.    By loving their wives.  What does Ephesians 5:25 say about husbands loving their wives even if their wives                                haven’t “earned” it?
        c.    By loving their kids by:
                       i.    Encouraging
                       ii.    Apologizing
                       iii.    Reconciling.
        d.    What are you waiting for today?  What is your next move as a dad?

   3.    Great dads know its never too late.
        a.    Discuss in light of the following passage:

"Forgetting what is behind, and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal                                                    to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
                                                                                                                                                             Philippians 3:13-14
